At smart we've our own environmental management system. This describes all the responsibilities and processes required for implementing our environmental policy. It also makes our environmental objectives crystal clear.

smart objectives: Even when smart was in development, we were thinking about a process-driven environmental management system. So we were able to work towards implementing our environmental policy and achieving our objectives right from the off. We were delighted when our system was was certified to DIN EN ISO 14001 in February 1997 at our Böblingen facility. And annual internal and external auditing makes sure this system follows a continuous improvement process.

With our products, we are setting a milestone for environmentally-compatible individual mobility. Every day, we live an efficient and dynamic environment management system which is aligned towards ongoing improvement.

Environmental policy at smart: Everyone at smart is responsible for fulfilling the ecological demands of today and tomorrow. We regard the environmental compatibility of our products as an essential objective in all phases of the product's life cycle. Together with our partners, we implement the ecological requirements on our products.

TEAMWORK

We believe in teamwork when it comes to environmental protection, together with our partners we embrace ecology and deal with all issues jointly.

Co-ordinating environmental protection: 15 different independent companies have settled in smartville. In order to integrate and co-ordinate the environmental protection activities of these system partners; an environment management system extending beyond the actual location has been implemented.
